ReOrbit signs a deal with VENG to develop next-generation Earth Observation satellites
Helsinki, Finland & Cordoba, Argentina – 14 April 2023
ReOrbit, a leading provider of software-defined satellites, has signed a deal with VENG, a high value-added space technology and services company whose main stakeholder is the National Commission for Space Activities of Argentina (CONAE), to develop next-generation Earth Observation satellites. Since the beginning of its commercial activities in 2007, VENG participates in strategic projects of the Argentine National Space Plan, such as the development of launch vehicle prototypes for access to space and the integration and testing of satellite components, among which the radar antennas of the SAOCOM satellites stand out. Also, VENG has the exclusive worldwide representation of CONAE’s SAOCOM mission products in the market of satellite information for earth observation.
The project is a strategically important milestone, marking the first collaboration in the space domain between Finland and Argentina. Headquartered in Helsinki, ReOrbit will provide the satellite bus, and both companies will work together to develop the payload subsystem with a plan to do manufacturing, integration and testing at the facilities located in Cordoba, owned by CONAE and operated by VENG.
ReOrbit manufactures autonomous satellites that are optimized for efficient, secure and reliable transport and delivery of customers space-related data. For this project, ReOrbit will use Gluon, a highly flexible software-defined satellite platform capable to accommodate different types of payloads from remote sensing to optical communication inter-satellite links.
“ReOrbit’s vision takes roots in advancing knowledge about space, while supporting the development and application of space assets by promoting global cooperation, where data flow is unlocked and streamlined for flexible and timely missions. As a platform provider, we are proud to work together with VENG to deliver high-performance satellites to further advance space technology in Argentina and the region,” says Sethu Saveda Suvanam, Founder & CEO of ReOrbit.
“Our partnership with ReOrbit is a major step forward in the development of the space and satellite industry. ReOrbit was the sure partner in powering the movement, with VENG ensuring that we’re equipped with top-notch engineering services to support ReOrbit’s space systems design activities,” added Marcos Actis, President of VENG.
