ReOrbit and NestAI Enter Strategic Partnership to Establish a European Space AI Lab for Sovereign Space Intelligence

Satellite connectivity innovator ReOrbit and European physical AI lab NestAI are initiating a joint development program to establish a European Space AI Lab focused on real-time, autonomous data processing in orbit. The collaboration supports Europe’s long-term strategic resilience by strengthening sovereign and secure space-based capabilities.
The strategic partnership integrates ReOrbit’s software-defined satellite architecture with NestAI’s physical AI platform — including its NestOS platform and AI Engine — creating a common foundation for autonomous capabilities across distributed space systems. Backed by a recent €100M investment from Nokia and Tesi, NestAI provides a system-level physical AI platform that enables autonomous capabilities to be governed and evolved directly in orbit. The joint initiative aims to establish a sovereign technical baseline for secure, resilient European defence connectivity.
The Mission: Real-Time Intelligence in Orbit
Modern security environments evolve at software speed, demanding real-time decision-making. Reliance on downlinking data to Earth introduces latency and vulnerability in degraded environments.
By combining ReOrbit’s software-defined satellite architecture with NestAI’s physical AI platform — built around NestOS and the AI Engine — the partnership creates a unified European capability optimised for secure, real-time operations. The collaboration focuses on three core pillars:
Sovereign Data Processing: Building a secure, distributed environment where sensitive defence data is processed on-orbit. This ensures technological sovereignty, keeping critical national intelligence within a secure, controlled satellite mesh under European control.
Low-Latency Intelligence Sharing: Utilising ReOrbit’s high-speed connectivity to share processed intelligence across a distributed network of satellites in real-time, enabling immediate information sharing across European and allied systems.
On-Orbit Adaptive Intelligence: Developing adaptive capabilities delivered through NestAI’s physical AI platform, enabling controlled updates to system behaviour on-orbit under human oversight and allowing systems to adapt to new space data in real time without the need to downlink sensitive raw information.
Enabling Interoperable Defence Systems
For nations to remain secure, their defence systems must be interconnected. The joint initiative develops the technology to bridge the gap between space assets and ground-based defence, ensuring that actionable intelligence reaches decision-makers in seconds.
"In modern security environments, reducing decision latency is critical. By combining ReOrbit’s software-defined satellite networking with NestAI’s physical AI platforms, we are enabling sovereign autonomous capabilities in orbit — designed to operate securely and under human oversight," said Sethu Saveda Suvanam, CEO of ReOrbit.
“As security environments evolve at software speed, processing data where it is generated becomes critical. Through the Space AI Lab, NestAI provides the sovereign physical AI foundation for ReOrbit’s software-defined architecture, ensuring that autonomy in orbit is adaptable and remains observable, governable, and accountable," said Peter Sarlin, Chairman of the Board, NestAI.
Key Capabilities
Autonomous Decision-Making: Physical AI models designed to detect and support responses to operational events in real time
Connected Systems: Seamlessly integrating space data with land, sea, and air defence networks, ensuring interoperability across domains.
Finnish Engineering: Satellites built in Finland by ReOrbit, combined with NestAI’s physical AI platform, to deliver resilient and secure orbital connectivity.
Secure Mesh Networks: Ensuring that sovereign data remains encrypted and protected as it moves across the orbital data centre mesh.
