ReOrbit and its regional partner, ReOrbit BTS and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) announce the establishment of the Center of Excellence for advanced satellite technologies.

Today at the Dubai Air Show, ReOrbit Oy and ReOrbit BTS announced the Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish Malaysia’s first-ever Center of Excellence for space technologies. This is a strategic collaboration between Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and ReOrbit Oy and its local partner ReOrbit BTS. The LoI exchange was witnessed by Ambassador of Finland to the UAE, Tuula Yrjölä and Ambassador of Malaysia to the UAE, HE Tengku Sirajuzzaman Bin Tengku Mohamed Ariffin.
This announcement follows discussions held on 22.9.25 at the Deputy Prime Minister’s office, where the initial collaboration was commemorated, chaired by YAB Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Deputy Prime Minister 1 of Malaysia and H.E. Anne Vasara, the Ambassador of Finland in Malaysia. This was followed by a Meeting at the Asean Summit 2025 between the Foreign Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Hassan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, focusing on G-to-G cooperation between the two nations in Space and Satellite technologies.
This LoI establishes a foundation for collaboration in training, research, technology transfer, and potential national satellite initiatives. The partnership will leverage ReOrbit's expertise in next-generation satellite systems with UniKL's academic and research ecosystem, whilst ReOrbit BTS ensures integration with the local industry, aiming to strengthen the space technology ecosystem, focusing on R&D, human capital development and providing access to space technology and infrastructure in Malaysia according to Malaysia Space Policy 2030.
As part of the agreement, the establishment of a Center of Excellence for advanced satellite technologies is built. To ensure robust transfer of knowledge, representatives from ReOrbit and its global academic network are also appointed as visiting professors. This will also provide valuable skills training opportunities in Finland for Malaysian lecturers and students, further strengthening the country's satellite technology ecosystem. This endeavour is poised to be a powerful catalyst for high-tech innovation and economic growth, driving the nation's space economy.
